What calculators do working electricians use most?
Wire size, voltage drop, conduit fill, and box fill are the daily NEC checks on residential and light commercial work. Each tool states NEC table basis, derating assumptions, and recommends verifying against locally adopted code and equipment listings.
How do I set my shop rate as a contractor?
Add annual overhead and owner income, divide by billable hours per year (often 55–70% of paid time), then add profit. Compare that required rate to market only after the math — if the market will not pay your cost-based rate, fix utilization, overhead, or positioning.
What is the difference between markup and margin?
Markup is profit divided by cost; margin is profit divided by selling price. Twenty percent markup is only 16.7% margin. Job pricing and markup-margin tools show both so estimates do not confuse the two.
Are True Trade Path field calculators code-approved designs?
